Description The paper assess the impact of Jura's identitary mobilization on party arrangements in the Swiss cantons of Jura and Bern in the period from the early 1970s to the late 1990s. It argues that Jura's "separatist" movement was characterized by the guiding role of non-party actors of identitary mobilization. They successfully managed the party system's polarization produced by the identitary mobilization and counter-mobilization. However, after the partitioning of Jura's region these actors gradually lost much of their political potential and ceased to condition the systemic properties of Northern Jura's cantonal party arrangement. In Southern Jura (still forming a part of the canton of Bern), a sophisticated use of identitary mobilization in local party and political competition resulted in establishing of several distinct polarized local party subsystems.
