Description Elicitins are holoproteins secreted by Phytophthora and Pythium species. Applied on tobacco they cause hypersentisitve reaction and systemic acquired resistence. LTPs are holoproteins secreted by all plant species. They participate in the synthesis of cuticula. They are able to inhibit completely the activity of cryptogein (elicitin). So, elicitins and LTPs bind to the same sites.
