Description Metallothionein (MT) is a protein (Mr from 6 000 to 10 000 Da) with catalytic and homeostatic function. Major part of metals in organisms is bonded by the molecules of metallothioneins. MT was determined in two endoparasites - Acanthocephalus lucii and Acanthocephalus anguilae (Perca fluviatilis). The fishing was performed in locality Čapí and Lanžhot. The dissection was aimed at enteric endoparasites. MT was measured by adsorptive transfer chronopotenciometric stripping analysis (AdT CPSA)in cell with three electrodes where the working electrode was a mercury drop. The average concentrations of metallothionein in parasites Acanthocephalus was 379 ng MT/g of tissue. The lowest and highest MT concentrations were 31 ng MT/g and 1 140 ng MT/g, respectively. The connection between the content of MT in parasites and concentrations of metals in fishes was studied.
