Description The study of electrophilic substitution of chlorine atoms in [PCl6]- led to the identification of 1,1,3,3-tetrafluorotriphosphate as the main reaction product. This enabled to propose a reaction mechanism involving a formation of the latter by an intramolecular elimination of POF2Cl from the initially formed difluorophosphato-chlorophosphates. By the 19F and 31P NMR spectroscopy were identified also both stereoisomers of tris(difluorophosphato)-trichlorophosphate:fac- and mer-[PCl3(OPOF2)3]-.
