Description | Variational properties of first order mechanical systems with general non-holonomic constraints are studied. The concept of variationality of a constrained system is introduced on the basis of a geometrical theory of non-holonomic constrained systems. Conditions of variationality of corresponding reduced equations of motion, analogous to the classical Helmholtz conditions are obtained. |
