Description 55 patients with first-episode schizophrenia were treated with risperidone. A significant reduction of total PANSS score and PANSS subscales were found. The positive symptoms were relativelly more influenced than negative ones. During the acute treatment a twofold increase of prolactinemia was observed, after one year a decrease was found. The changes of prolactinemia did not correlate with symptoms improvement.
