| Description | Semiopragmatic approach, represented above all by Francesco Casetti and Roger Odin, connects semiotics with pragmatics in its move from questions of a text to questions of a context. A sense of the text is added by both sender and receiver on dependence on an institution and a social situation. We can identify two different lines in the pragmatics approach to the film studies. The first one is prevailingly oriented on the process of enunciation and ways of interpellation of a viewer by a text. The second one (represented by Roger Odin) scrutinizes the role of the institution. It asks, how the institution (the dominant filmic institution, the experimental filmic institution, the institution of home movies, etc.) determines the production of meaning. |
