| Description | The postface to the Czech edition of "Die Knaben und der Fluss", the best known work of Josef Muehlberger (1903 - 1985), tries to reevaluate Muehlberger's importance in today's context. Not only as of an author of short stories describing the post-war expulsion of Germans from Czechoslovakia (1945), but as well as of an influential translator and "evangelist" of Czech literature in Germany, a historian of the German language literature from Bohemia and Moravia, and last but not least as of an editor of literary review Witiko (1928 - 1931), which has tried to bridge the chasm between Czechs and Germans. |
