Description The article is based on some results of the research project "Czech an Foreign Grant Offers; Employment by Schools of Secondary and Tertiary Level" implemented by the Department of Educational Sciences, Faculty of Arts, Masaryk University of Brno in 2001-2002 on the strength of a an assignment by The National Educational Fund of Prague. In the article the authors first give some concise information on the individual stages of the whole project; then they attempt to answer the questions relating to the factors that contribute to the success of schools in the grant competition. They persuade themselves that in this respect the attitudes of the representatives of the schools to the entire process of achieving grants and effective mechanisms in the work with grant offers and grants are cardinal. To conclude they attempt at a general level of characterization of the schools that have been successul in the grant competition.
