Description Veronica scardica is a rare species of the Czech flora. It remained undetected until the 1960s. Since then, the species has been collected or reported to occur from 7 localities in South Moravia, with the most recent record from 1985. In the late 1990s, V. scardica was considered as a missing. In 2002, we confirmed its occurrence on the bank of the fishpond Jordánek near the village of Lovčice, and another locality of the species was found in the vicinity of the village of Diváky. We describe ecological requirements, distribution, and important morphological characters of Veronica scardica. The vegetation types in which the species was found near Lovčice (South Moravia) and Civitella Alfedena (Italy) are documented by phytosociological relevés.
