Description The article presents the main problems in introducing e-learning to universities. It is based on the experience acquired at the Faculty of Arts, Masaryk University in Brno where the open-source e-learning system Moodle is used on a wide scale. It also summarizes some foreign research reports, especially one comparing a centralized vs. distributed models of e-learning. The article claims that success of e-learning will not depend on hardware and technology (which are often central to e-learning projects) but rather on the accessibility and intuitiveness of the system for its users, on the participation of the most respected teachers, and on the resulting "trustworthiness" of e-learning in the academic community.
