| Description | At first mechanism of effects of anticonvulsants on mood diosrders including possible trophic activity is briefly mentioned. Individual anticonvulsants (valproates,carbamazepine and la otrigin) are analysed form the poing of view of their efficacy in mania, bipolar depresion maintenance treatment. The differences in side effect are disucssed and practical recommendation are given. Separately, efficacy of anticonvulsants in schizoaffective disoder is described. Special attention is iven to combinations of anticonvulsants. Short guidelines for the treatmetn of different stages of bipolar disorder including general strategies are presented. |
