Description Nitric oxide (NO) is an important mediator in the airway and variants in the nitric oxide synthase (NOS) genes contribute to the observed variance of NO levels in exhaled air (FENO) in asthmatics. NO also plays a significant role in the regulation of the Th1/Th2 balance. Our study investigates a possible association of two promoter variants (-786C/T and -691C/T) of the human NOS3 gene with allergic diseases in the Czech population.
