Description Proposed essay notes a Czech reflection of the work of Mykola Lysenko (1842-1912), one of the most important composers of the Slavonic World. As the works of this Ukrainian composer were practically not played in a Czech background, we cannot speak about the reception of his work here; but the reflection of life and work of M. Lysenko if bar broader topic. This essay contains summarization of all Czech references about Lysenko and its critic commentary. During the composer s life in Czech musicology journals there was relatively a lot of information about Lysenko s presentation of Slavonic music. The frequency of the reflection decreases after Lysenko s death (and especially after World War 2) - we can find just several headwords in musical encyclopedias in publications of general music history and in compilations included in special magazines.
