Description	The aim of this symposium was the exchange of experience with the teaching of social sciences under the conditions of mass education and a three-level system of higher education institutions (Bachelor, Master, Ph.D.). Colleagues from Vienna, Oxford, Florence, Berlin, Prague, Tallin and Lillehammer came to Brno to discuss issues related to teaching of social sciences at the beginning of a new century, but also seek common solutions for challenging tasks that education is facing in (post)modern society.
