Description We studied 25 treated hypertensives (Hy; 49ą10 years) and 15 healthy controls (Norm; 44ą9 years) twice in period of one year. IMT was determined ultrasonografically. From the 5-minutes beat-to-beat recordings of BP (Finapres) were determined: BRS by spectral method (in ms/mmHg) and BRSf (in mHz/mmHg), short-term variability of inter-beat intervals (IBI), and systolic and diastolic BP (SBP and DBP) as standard deviations (IBIsd, SBPsd, DBPsd), and by spectral method as the spectral power at a frequency of 0.1 Hz (in the absolute and relative units - vSBPabs, vDBPabs, vIBIabs, vSBPrel, vDBPrel, vIBIrel). 24-hours variability of SBP, DBP and IBI was derived from 24-hours recordings of BP. A mild decrease of BP, a decrease of short-term blood-pressure variability and the increase of the power in spectra of SBP into range of 0.1 Hz is a positive effect of the therapy. Other parameters were unchanged after one year.
