Keywords ajmaline; action potential; ionic currents; concentration dependence; rat ventricular myocytes
Description Ajmaline decreased the upstroke velocity of action potential and action potential amplitude, increased the action potential duration measured at 50 and 90% repolarization, and reversibly inhibited most components of membrane ionic current in a concentration-dependent manner; IC50 was 27.8 umol/l for INa, 70.8 umol/l for ICa, 25.9 umol/l for Ito, 61.0 umol/l for IK, and 13.3 umol/l for IKATP.
