| Description | The aim of this work is to publish Upper Paleolithic materials from the Uherské Hradiště Area following a break of more than fifty years since the last publication by Hrubý in 1951. In this work, the material published by Hrubý is critically reanalyzed and the area was subject to a new, intensive survey. Ail sites were recorded using absolute coordinates and all accessible materials were documented, creating the database suitable for future research both in the field and on material collections. The fourth chapter describes the methodology of the surface surveys, the documentation of site locations and presents Aurignacian and Gravettian settlement strategies, examining their common characteristics. Apendix A describes the faunal remains from the Jarošov-Podvršťa site, Appendix B other important osteological materials from the area, Apendix C baked clay lumps from the Jarošov-Podvršťa site and Apendix D presents Czech geographical names and their English equivalents used in this book. |
