Description The aim of the work was the use of rep-PCR for molecular typisation of lactic acid bacteria of genus Lactobacillus. Alltogether 38 collection strains and 20 new isolated strains (of human origin) were used in experiments. DNA was isolated using phenol extraction method. Concentration and purity of DNA was estimated spectrophotometrically. The quality of purified DNA was proved using agarose gel electrophoresis and using PCR with genus specific primers LbLMA 1-rev and R16-1 (Duberbet et al., 2002). Typisation of bacteria of genus Lactobacillus was carried out using rep-PCR primer (GTG)5 (Gevers et al. 2001). Tested bacterial strains of genus Lactobacillus can be divided into groups which reflect their intraspecies heterogenity.
