Description After accession of the Czech Republic to the European Union the law has not changed a lot. The key changes must have occured and have occured sooner, mainly thanks to the so called big ammendment to the Act on the family from 1998 and a lot of international treaties and conventions, firs of all from the Council of Europe. Developtment of Czech family Law is expected within the creation of the new Civil Code, which should reflect European Standards. The article tries to find answers to the questions, what are the European Family Law Standards and whether the draft of the new Civil Code fulfils them.
