Description Under radiation we include radioactivity and electromagnetic waves. As these particles and waves pass through matter they lose energy, breaking molecular bonds and creating ions. It is well known that excessive exposure to radiation can destroy tissues and cause very severe ilness. Radon, an inert, colorless and odorless radioactive gas and its daugter products constitute in some areas a great hazard for human health.
