Description | Several methods for estimation of pyrite oxidation rate (POR) were compared in waste rock pile at Mine Doyon site, Quebec, Canada. At this site, transport of oxygen occurs by both convection and diffusion. Large scale methods like temperature and oxygen profiles and pyrite mass balance gave similar results like small scale oxygen consumption method in laboratory. This means that at a site with convective oxygen transport even small scale methods may give satisfactory POR results. |
