| Description | Comparing the 90th percentiles of the blood pressure measured in finger arteries with the values acquired by the Riva Rocci method or with those published in Task Force 1987 in an age range of 11- 18 years, we did not find any significant difference. BRS values between 3.9 and 18.7 ms/mmHg were found in 90% of the subjects. This result is interesting because BRS values under 5 ms/mmHg are usually found in patients with hypertension, and those under 3 ms/mmHg were determined as a risk factor for sudden cardiac death in patients after myocardial infarction. Both of these critical values, 5 and 3 ms/mmHg, are very close to the values of the 10th and 5th percentiles found in our healthy young subjects, e.g. 4.6 and 3.9 ms/mmHg, respectively. Thus, it produced evidence that a low baroreflex sensitivity can be an individual attribute. |
