Description Paper deals with the paradoxes of the current state and the new trends of unfair competition law in the EU and in the Czech Republic. Unfair competition is the subject matter of the recently adopted Directive of the European Parliament and the Council No. 2005/29/EC of 11 May 2005 concerning unfair business-to-consumer commercial practices. The author proposed the ways of its transposition into the national legal system.
