Description | University non-philology language tests should be set in compliance with the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages. Apart from traditional types of tests organized by special Examination Centres at universities, the new set of tests for non-philology university students should be focused on enhancing the student academic language ability to understand, find and/or identify relevant information, think critically, express an opinion, make a comment, justify the point providing supporting arguments, oppose the counterarguments, and suggest a constructive conclusion. The co-operation of language teachers with IT specialists in the making up of these new tests using modern software would be inevitable. Standardised Language Certificates based on CEFR levels should be issued and acknowledged throughout the non-philology departments, both in the Czech Republic and at the twinned universities abroad. |
