Description ARDRA analysis was used for the identification of 11 selected bacterial strains isolated from human sources. These strains were identified into the genus Bifidobacterium using genus-specific PCR. However they could not be identified into species using species-specific PCR due to the cross reactions. Analysis of genus specific amplicon of 914 bp using restrictases AluI and Sau3AI enabled the differentiation of species B. adolescentis, B. bifidum, B. breve, B. catenulatum, B. infantis and B. longum. Alltogether 10 strains could be identified into species. In conclusion, ARDRA analysis is a quick and reproducible identification procedure with high discrimination potential for individual species.
