Description The paper introduces the importance of quality and basic ideas of the Common Assesment Framework (CAF), gives a background on the methodology of the research. The first part focuses on the quality management support of the Czech central institutions. The second part discusses the selected self-evaluation practice in relation to the claimed benefits and discussed issues of the instrument within the territorial public administration. The article is a part of the preparatory work on the grant of the Czech Science Foundation (Grant no. 402/07/1486 - Measurement of Citizens' Satisfaction with Public Sector Services as Integral Part of Quality Management in Public Sector Organizations).
