Description Political institutions are indispensable determinants of long-run economic growth. We suppose that policy is an endogenous variable in economic system and considerably influenced the character and the rate of economic growth in country. Policy generates the institutions conditions suitable for allocation of resources (human and physical capital). The way of their dispose is usually different in authoritarian and democratic systems. It may be affected by political instability too. We analyze, if development of democracy and political stability contribute to better economic performance in Slovakia in 1990 till 2005. We find that these factors were not necessary condition of long-run economic growht of Slovakia.
