Description | First-episode schizophrenia is characterized by pronounced acute treatment response. After the first psychotic episode the course of disease is highly variable. Many patients relapse, are non-compliant and develop co morbidity (substance dependence). All these factors may influence later manifestation of aggressivity. This confirms the suggestion that the period after the first psychotic manifestation is a critical one. |
