| Description | The chapter focuses on the development of Czech stylistic research from the earliest era to the present. Stylistics is introduced in four mutually connected lines: a) stylistics as a practical science, i.e. as a theory of stylization (normative stylistics); b) stylistics as a study of language and style of concrete texts (textual stylistics); c) stylistics as a theory of potentials of language (systemic stylistics); d) stylistics as a theoretical scientific discipline. The paper also offers a comprehensive bibliography of the field. |
