Description | In this paper the author deals with the issue of academic and professional gender stereotypes in the field of science which she examines and demonstrates on examples from Czech science textbooks for lower secondary school. The issue of perception of science as "masculine" is further considered in the context of Czech University students enrolment on courses of science and details of an intended study among university students based on a quantitative investigation are given. The article also presents significant actions that have been taken recently in the Czech Republic to promote equal opportunities of men and women in education. |
