Description The article is concentrated on selected questions of reception of one of the main iconographical sources for visual art, Ovid`s Metamorphoses. In the first part was attention given to reader`s popularity of Metamorphoses prints, which was made through the research of inventaries of Moravian aristocracy. The popularity of illustrated editions corresponds with the results of research of graphical sources used in Czech and Moravian art in the 17th century. Graphical series of great importance for baroque art in Bohemia and Moravia were especially the illustrations of V. Solis, C. de Passe, J. W. Baur and S. Le Clerc-F. Chauveau and single-leaf engravings of M. Dorigny. Second part deals with the discussion on ovidian texts and its illustrations: it was mainly refered to a lascivity of the poetry and the illustrations, what conduced in some cases to a censorship. Mentioned questions of formal and content sight were documented on the example of the decoration of central Rotunda in Kroměříž Flower Garden.
