Description Article about the concept of "Cathar sect". This concept was born in Liber contra hereses katharorum by Eckbert of Schönau in the 1160s. A new theory of “Cathar heresy” is given: it is a polemical mix of different radical ascetic beliefs and practices, a sort of negative self-image of the new ideology of the Christian society.
