Description Main goal of the research was analysis of the relation between personality styles and coping strategies. Coping strategies derived from hierarchical model, which refers to R.S. Lazarus s approach to coping with stress and personality styles, which derived from J. Kuhl s PSI theory, were examined. Data of 139 university students (55 males and 84 females) were analyzed. Personality styles characterized by positive emotivity (styles with high sensitivity for rewards and high ability of kinetic activation) are connected to engagement coping strategies. Personality styles characterized by negative emotions (styles with high sensitivity for punishment and high ability of sensorial activation) are connected above all to disengagement coping strategies. Gender differences in the relation between personality styles and coping strategies were detected.
