Description The study deals with individualization and environmental crisis in the period of Classical Antiquity. The Greek society of classical and hellenistic period and Roman society of the era of principate reached the high level of individualization, that was percieved by some contemporaries as the source of lots of problematic phenomena. Therefore some ancient writers and thinkers proclaimed utopic ideas, where collectivism connected with spirit of solidarity and community of traditional polis revival represents hope for society. Vice versa the migration of upper classes of that time from the cities on the country was individualistic response to social and environmental crisis.
