Description | The aim of the work was to determine the number and mode of inheritance of the genes conferring resistance to powdery mildew in wild barley (Hordeum vulgare ssp. spontaneum). The analyses were carried out with the plants from the F2 generation of the cross between the cultivar Tiffany and the resistant accession PI282605. After resistance tests, 213 resistant and 16 susceptible plants were scored in the F2 generation and a two-locus model of resistance was shown. To find the markers linked to the resistance genes, 19 resistant and 16 susceptible plants were tested using SSR (simple sequence repeat) markers. The data of 115 plants of all genotypes analyzed in the MapManager QTX program revealed a significant linkage with the markers Bmac0213 on chromosome 1HS, Bmac0134 on 2HS and Bmag0007 on 7HS. The prospective aim is to assign the position of the resistance genes more precisely on the genetic map of barley and find more tightly linked DNA markers. |
