Description The analysis of bio-minerals can provide information about the chronology, diet and palaeoenvironment of past populations. More specifically, e.g. line scans of uroliths cross-sections may be used to detect the accumulation history of the selected elements. This can be linked to the patient exposure to environmental effects. Together with the main components, biogenous and toxic trace elements can be monitored. Here we report on utilization of two laser-ablation based analytical techniques for mapping of elemental spatial distribution in bio-minerals, coupled to hard X-ray microradiography and micro-CT measurements for visualization of the inner structure of investigated samples.
