Description We compared thalidomide-dexamethasone with melphalan-prednisolone in 289 elderly patients with multiple myeloma. This is the first trial to compare TD with MP in elderly patients. Results in the TD group showed a significantly higher rate of very good responses (CR and VGPR) and significantly shorter time to response with no difference in time to progression and in progression-free survival.
