Description | Mine water which overspill to the surface environment from abandoned mine usually has deep impact to the surface environment and exposed biota. To take appropriate measures to prevent risk for human health and exposed biota it is necessary to understand mine water behavior during flooding and remediation of exploited ore deposits. The main factor which determines mine water geochemical evolution at various stages of mine operation is change in oxidation-reduction conditions within ore body. These conditions are very tightly dependent on mine (ground) water regime. Long term detailed monitoring of the closed and flooded mines in Czech Republic allow authors to elaborate general model which can explain all important features of mine water behavior and forecast its future evolution. |
