| Description | The region at the eastern border of Prague provided data for the investigation of the relationship between iron production and settlement activities in the Iron Age, mainly in the Hallstatt, La Tene and Roman periods (ca. 8th cent. B.C. to 4th cent. A.D.). The volume comprising contributions by V. Čulíková, D. Dreslerová, M. Gregerová, M. Hložek, L. Kovačiková, R. Kyselý, M. Malkovský, F. Marek, L. Peške and J. Zavřel offers a catalogue of finds and sites, an archaeological evaluation of significant assemblages including macrobotanical and osteological analyses, and also a short survey of medieval finds. Natural scientific methods were applied to the study of iron ores and iron smelting products, and economical and ecological aspects of iron production were considered. |
