Description The article deals with the issue of the weak object pronoun placement in Early Medieval Greek. Attention is paid to their innovative preverbal position in later Byzantine period and the research done so far in this field. In the second part, the position of weak object pronouns in Early Byzantine John Malalas' Chronicle (6th cent. A. D.) is examined. The predominance of standard postverbal weak object pronouns placement has been recognized while some very slight innovative tendencies have been identified in this respect, mostly in direct speech.
