Description The text of this article outlines the sources and spectrum of influences of the modern use of film in school history. It focuses in particular on the differences between text and image sources and the use of feature films in teaching. It points to the inappropriate application of film in school teaching in the form of ready-made images of the past. In response to this fact, it summarises a number of consequences and recommends methodical solutions based on constructivist orientated teaching, and backs them up with practical examples. Part of the study also presents the contexts of film, school history, the profile topic Media Education and attitudes to the possible introduction of Film Education as a separate school subject.
