Citation
Description This paper is devoted to the teachings of the German forester and statesman, which were presented mainly in his work Forstästhetik, first published in 1885. This 400+ page book was published several times and was literally followed by a wave of writings on the topic of forest aesthetics, also in the Czech lands, and subsequently the subject of forest aesthetics was introduced in the curriculum of several forestry schools in Germany. Salisch tried to come up with a consistent theory, containing a well-thought out philosophical and aesthetic foundation (connected to German aesthetics, particularly Schiller), that had thoroughly practical applications and details as well, which are to a certain extent justified by this base. Last year's English translation of his work and this year's republishing of the third German edition from 1911 attest to the renaissance of interest in his work. The conclusion comprises a short introduction to and critical reflex on Salisch's followers in Czechia.
