| Description | The author focuses on the process of establishing the Department of Education at the Faculty of Arts, Masaryk University in Brno, and observes its development in the years between the World Wars. The book explores available publications and, above all, archival materials. The author follows the process of building up the Department as an institution that created conditions for the development of educational science at Masaryk University. He also deals with the personalities from the Department, especially with its founder and leading personality, Otokar Chlup. Further, he analyses the contributions of Jan Uher, Stanislav Velinský and Josef Dvořáček to the develop-ment of the Department of Education. |
