Description The author shows various ways of classification of the genitive and mentions the semantic difference between the genitivae and the accusative. In Greek the genitive occurs more frequently than in Latin and old Russian owing to the sncretisme of genitive and ablative. The ganitive in the function of object appears in several semantic variants (as partitive g., g. of memory and oblivion, g. of participation, g. of filling and evacuation, g. of operation. The genitive in adverbial function appears as genitive of place and time, g. of origin, g. of value and price, g. of cause. Particular types of genitive are represented in unequal degree in descried languages.
