Description Biographical narrative paradigm is one of the dominant standpoints within the current field of conversion studies. This theoretical and methodological standpoint is often presented as a natural step within a field of conversion studies and as such emphasized as an important move against the traditional biblical concepts of conversion or as the reaction against the past often simplistic views on the problem of religious conversion. I understand the current situation within this field – and in fact the whole formation of the field – as the outcome of some of the influential concepts and theories from the field of sociology, namely some of the concept related to the problem of modernity and the position of individual within the modern society. The stress on the reflexivity as a vehicle of self expression and definition of his or her identity is one the main concepts behind the biographical narrative paradigm and as such was recognized and theoretically described already in the field of sociology.
