Description Interleukin-10 (IL-10) is a key regulatory cytokine that has a significant effect on both the innate and adaptive immune response. It may be of significance in the chronic inflammatory diseases such as periodontitis and IL-10 gene haplotypes are known to be associated with the variation of IL-10 production. The aim of this study was to analyze polymrophisms in the IL-10 gene and their associations with microbial composition and clinical manifestation of chronic (CP) or aggressive (AgP) periodontitis.
