Description LIF is a cytokine that exhibits pleiotropic activities in a wide range of cell types. there are evidences that LIF-regulated signaling pathway are involved in cardiomyogenesis. We studied the effect of LIF on cardiomyogenesis in presence of serum-born factors. We found out that LIF had an inhibitory effect during the induction and progression phases of cardiomyogenesis of mES cells. This effect was abolished by inhibitors of STAT3 activity.
