Description | The theory of evolution and ecology are very important parts of theoretical biology. The contribution presents some links between them that emerges on the level of mathematical models. It introduces replicator equations (ordinary differential equations modelling natural selection), it shows their equivalence with the Lotka-Volterra equations of population dynamics and their connection to the game theory. It mentions two alternative models of selection, too. The contribution can serve as an introductory text to the subject and a primordial source of references. |
