Description | Currently, there is an increasing importance of the research in the area of lifespan development psychology. This is connected with the progress of longitudinal studies and the growing multidisciplinarity of research that led to the emergence of so-called developmental science. This paper deals with an overview of some current significant theories that theoretically capture the individual development, not only from birth to early adulthood, but also its development in the process of aging. There is an effort to analyze how this theories see the development (psychological vs. sociological). It analyzes the level on which is the development processed (macroscopically vs. microscopically; external orientation vs. inner world, etc.) The paper is looking also for common points in the key characteristics and principles of development in these theories. |
